From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
